It is a little known fact that Aberdeen is definitely punching above it’s weight when it comes to print design. Last year five scarf designers decided to meet up for a drink and chat all things scarfy – mutual issues we had been having, events we had taken part in that had been successful/unsuccessful, and loads more. I’m lucky enough to be part of this little group of wonderful ladies who all design beautiful scarves, and what’s great about it is we all get on so well, and all have really different styles and approaches to our work. We have been wanting to hold and event together for a while and thought why not kick things off by treating our wonderfully supportive customers in Aberdeen to a bargain loaded Sample Sale!!
Girl Gang – Mimi Hammill, Helen Ruth Scarves (ME!), Paper Houses (Mhairi Allan), Danielle Rattray, Lindsay&Yoshi (Lindsay Johnston)
Orchid Bar on Langstane Place was the chosen venue, where we took over the back of the bar with a sea of colour and pattern. What had started off as a beautiful day weather wise, by midday (and our opening time) turned into downpour, but lucky for us our customers were not put off and braved the Scottish weather to come and shop. I’m sure the promise of a free glass of Prosecco probably helped lure you out!
We all had a fantastic day seeing familiar faces and new customers. Going by my Instagram feed it seems there were a few happy shoppers at the end of the day (including myself, now the proud owner of a Danielle Rattray silk scarf). I hope you all enjoy wearing your new scarves, and here’s to the next Aberdeen Scarf Collective event. Watch this space…
